Inspiration.....okay entertainment is equally as descriptive!! I read. A lot!!!
I remember a very specific thought I had as a pre-teen, while doing my homework one evening. "How amazing, to be able to read!!". The sentiment was enveloped in musings about everything from the ability of ancient civilizations being able to pass on their ancestral stories, to Shakespeare and all of the other greats, being able to communicate their thoughts and feelings and imaginations to me - spanning hundreds of years, yet being present and personal in my bedroom. How amazing!
So I read. And read. And read. I couldn't get enough, and it still to this day, amazes me that I can absorb and assimilate knowledge from just the written word. Wow!
Okay, so to be truthful, the last couple of years I have been pretty obsessed with catching up on teenage/women´s fiction, that I missed out on during my late teens an twenties because, honestly, after 8 to 10 hours in the library studying, reading fiction in my freetime was´t the biggest priority. Although my reading speed at that time was a force to be reckoned with, so during my summer vacations I would literally inhale chick-lit novels in mere hours a pop.
Now I read primarily on my Kindle, and recently I have become engrossed in listening to Audible versions and spend hours being provoked, entertained, feel empowered or informed by listening to podcasts.
Using digital versions of books, music, audio books and educational CD's is the best way for me to keep being exposed to as much new knowledge about this wonderful, crazy and challenging world that we live in - but all while staying true to my need for MINIMALISM.
